Dear Academy Parents and Guardians:
Welcome to the Parents and Guardians Association of Columbus Academy (PACA). For those of you who are new to the school – a special welcome! – and think of us like a PTA.
PACA’s primary goal is to help Academy parents and guardians navigate Viking waters. We provide opportunities to communicate, educate, connect, and raise funds to enrich the experience for the entire CA community.
You have already heard from our division parents in welcome back emails and will be hearing from them at least bi-weekly throughout the year. We will communicate with you when we have some all-PACA news or announcements to share.
To that end, we wanted to make sure you had on your calendar to attend the First PACA Forum tomorrow, Weds August 28th at 8am, which is our first monthly gathering to hear about news from the school and to build community with other parents.
Tomorrow our guest speaker will be our Head of School, Melissa Soderberg, who always kicks off our year with a preview of what’s ahead and the focus for the academic year. Join us in the Dining Hall for a light breakfast and informative conversation right after drop-off. Parking is available near the bus circle or back by the soccer fields near to the dining hall.
We also want to direct you to our Viking Parents website that has everything you need to know about PACA including our calendar of events, volunteer roles, grade and division level pages, and details on all of our major events. Speaking of… our first big event is coming up on September 20th, the 37th Annual Charlie David Dinner, kicking off a weekend of community activities at the school. We hope to see you tomorrow and at many more times at school throughout the year.
Please reach out to either of us should you have any questions at any time!
Here’s to a great year of learning, growing and fun!
Melissa (P’ 19 and ’21) and Greg (P ’21)
