Fall is here! For now. We all are aware that this time of year brings crazy swings in temperatures. Please make sure that your students are dressing in layers to accommodate for those swings. Those layers should not include hoodies as they are not, have not, were not and may never be part of the dress code at CA.
A gentle reminder…please remember complete your student’s health screen form each day your student steps on campus. Click HERE to print off copies of the form.

Students should come in dress code, bring their charged calculator and #2 pencils (not mechanical pencils). A water bottle is acceptable but they will only be able to take brief, socially-distanced breaks outside the testing room as dictated by the proctor when break times are allowed. Most students will finish their test between 11:30am-12:00pm. Those with extended time will finish closer to 1pm or after. Lunch will still be served at the usual time for those who wish to eat. Otherwise, students may depart campus once they are finished and released from the test. ALL OTHER US STUDENTS will be home on Wednesday doing asynchronous work. There will not be any Zoom classes on Wednesday 9/23.

Join SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity): How we see the world, decide which values to uphold, understand the unfamiliar, raise our kids – all these depend on our personal histories, inform who we are, and guide whom we want to be. Parent SEED brings together CA parents and those caring for CA students who are interested in looking at issues in diversity, inclusion, and multi-culturalism (such as racism, class, poverty, gender identity, disability rights, etc.), through their own eyes and those of fellow parents. Through a series of 7 meetings, enhanced by selected readings, videos, and speakers, we discuss topics important and sometimes uncomfortable, in a confidential and safe setting. Until further notice, SEED meetings will take place via ZOOM.
Parent SEED’s first meeting this school year is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30. Subsequent meetings are planned for October, November, January, February, April, and May. We will meet from 9-10:30am. To participate or for further information, please contact Parent SEED leader Joyce Simson P’08, jrs, (614) 554-9238.
As we work to gain a better understanding of what this year will allow PACA’s Parent Education Committee to offer, we will keep you – our parent community – posted on other events that are open to the public, as well as provide information regarding helpful resources, podcasts, experts, etc…to help our kids navigate and succeed in these unchartered times. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to Melissa Kass (P’21, ’19) melissarkass, Jennifer Salopek (P’24) jcs or Joyce Simson (P’08) jrs with any suggestions or questions.
Important Advanced Placement (AP) Reminders: As was the case last year, AP Exams are now ordered in the fall, based on classroom registration in College Board’s MYAP
Students must decide about taking an AP Exam(s) by the November 1, 2019 deadline
THIS YEAR – Each student is responsible for setting ‘order exam?’ status to No if not planning to take the AP Exam in the spring, in his/her MYAP account (the 2020-21 default is set to Yes). If this status is not changed to No, an exam will be ordered and the student/family account WILL be charged the base exam fee of $95 per exam.
It is possible to request an exam after the final deadline until February 1, 2021, the spring course orders and fall order changes deadline, however a late order fee of $40 per exam will be incurred on top of the AP exam fee. If a student chooses to cancel an exam after November 1 or does not take an exam that was ordered for them, the student will be charged $40 for each exam cancelled. *Have a CA Grade 9-12 child who is not enrolled in an Honors/AP Class but planning to take an AP? Email Mrs.Young at youngj by the November 1, 2019 deadline to request/approve an AP Exam order. Include your child’s name, grade and the title of the exam.
Hope everyone was able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather this weekend! Stay safe.
