Dear US Parents,

It is hard to believe we have almost completed the first quarter!

PSAT Day – October 13th

  • Freshmen will begin and end their day at the regular times but have alternate programming involving community service. Freshmen can dress in clothing that is comfortable yet neat, clean and covered with closed toe shoes. No short shorts or yoga pants please!
  • Sophomores and Juniors will check-in at the usual time, in dress-code and then report directly to their testing location. Please bring No. 2 pencils and a calculator. Once the testing is complete, they may depart campus, usually around noon. For those with extended time, they may be finished closer to 1:30p. Lunch is still available for those who want it, and for students that ride the bus, they may stay until the usual end-of-day if that is easiest. Charity White will open the ceramics area in the afternoon. Students can come and make a bowl to be used for our annual Habitat for Humanity fundraiser.
  • Seniors do not need to report to school that day but may come in later in the morning if they need to see someone in College Counseling. Seniors must wear dress code if they come to school.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held October 13th through the 15th. All meetings will take place via Zoom.

1st Quarter Ends
This Friday, October 15th concludes the first quarter. Grades will be available on Friday 10/15 at 3:30 pm. As a reminder, first quarter grades are only a snapshot in time. Grade Point Averages are only calculated at the completion of each semester.

Homecoming
Homecoming is October 16th from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm in the Senior Quad. Students must arrive by 9:00 pm. Weather permitting, the event will be outdoors and dancing will be on the grass of the Senior Quad. (dress accordingly) If the weather does not cooperate, the event will be in the Dining Hall and masks will be required. Please encourage your child to be inclusive when making plans. Guest are allowed this year (One guest per student). Permission slips will be required for both CA students and guests.

College Counseling – Financial Aid Night
Thanks to everybody who attended our Financial Aid Night.
If you missed it, here is a video recording of the event: https://youtu.be/ohk7UPCz6sw

Host Families
Interested in becoming a Host Family for an incoming Academy Family?
Join the Admissions Office for a Host Family Volunteer Coffee on Wednesday, October 20, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on the fireplace-side of our dining hall.

This will be an opportunity to learn more about what it means to be a Host Family – how you can help welcome new families into your grade and the CA Community. If you have previously served as a Host Family or were new this year, this is also a great time to share your experience and provide feedback to help future families feel a part of our community!

If you plan to attend – or if you are interested, but can’t make the meeting – please let the Admissions Office know by email: admissions
