Recap: 7th Grade Community Meeting

Good Evening 7th Grade Parents!

We wanted to email a summary of the 7th-grade community meeting for those who were not able to attend last Thursday.

The majority of the 7th Grade Community meeting covered the upcoming 12th annual 7th Grade Trip to Hueston Woods on October 16-18. Here are a few points discussed:

  • Drop off at Normal School Carpool/Bus Time on Wednesday, October 16.

    • Bus to Hueston Woods Departs at 8:30.

  • Students will return again to Middle School Carpool on Friday, October 18th in the early afternoon.

    • Arrival will ideally be before carpool lines begin to form, but will be traffic dependent.

  • NO Devices.

    • If you have questions/concerns regarding this policy, please contact your child’s advisor.

  • Activities will consist of team-building planned & led by Academy faculty.

    • The itinerary will be forthcoming, however many activities will remain a surprise for the students.

  • Pack Layers

    • Hueston Woods is a lodge, so bedding and toiletries are provided like a hotel.

  • Vending Machines/Souvenir Store on site

    • Suggested: $20 in small bills

    • There is also a game room. Consider this a factor when determining how much $$ to send with your child. If history is precedent, it will mostly be spent there!

  • If you have not sent in the CA travel permission packet, please do so ASAP. Forms can be done online (and saved for future years) on you or your child’s iPad!

Additional Topics Covered:

November Middle School Dance: tentatively scheduled at CA on November 8th with both Wellington & CSG. Dresscode is casual- more to come from the school. Mrs. Carter would like our students “covered & clean.”

Kids 4 Kids: Please look for Kids 4 Kids information to come from PACA leadership. Kids 4 Kids is a school service-learning project each fall that involves our entire community in collecting food, clothes, toys, and everyday household materials for families in need through The Childhood League Center. Our 7th graders will be responsible for organizing 1 week of non-perishable meals per family CA will be supporting. This year we will be adding the collection of adult winter clothing and will focus on adding winter boots to the donations for our recipients. Please consider donating as you clean out your closets and pantries this fall.
