BASEBALL OPEN WORKOUT TIMES – October 2019 ⚾️

Players & Parents:

It’s time to think about baseball! Our CA baseball coaching staff will be available for fall workouts with students in 5-8th grades on the following dates. During these workouts they will have the opportunity to work on the fundamentals of hitting, infield and outfield play, base-running and some pitching. They are not obligated to attend if they want to play in the Spring, but this is a great opportunity for some extra practice as well as an opportunity for all of us to get to know each other and you to start learning the process. Team building is an important part of our program. All of these work outs will be held outdoors on the baseball field. If the weather does not permit an outdoor work out we will cancel.

Thursday 10/10 4pm-5:30pm
Sunday 10/13 2pm-4pm
Thursday 10/17 4pm-5:30pm
Sunday 10/20 2pm-4pm
Tuesday 10/22 4pm-5:30pm
Sunday 10/27 2pm-4pm
Tuesday 10/29 4pm-5:30pm

I look forward to seeing you on the field. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email or on my cell-text or call.

CA GIRLS LACROSSE CLINIC 🥍

From JoAnne Adams, PE Department Chair:

Our campus is hosting a free girls lacrosse clinic for all Columbus Academy girls in grades 1-8 on
Sunday, October 13.

Alexis Venechanos, the former head women’s lacrosse coach at Ohio State who currently holds the same position at Otterbein University, will be teaching lacrosse skills and concepts as part of her goal to get young women interested in lacrosse. A session for girls in grades 1-5 will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. immediately followed by a session for our middle school girls from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Anyone interested can register at https://www.mflevents.com/free-columbus-academy-girls-lacrosse-clinic.

Players should bring their own lacrosse sticks, if they have them, but our PE department also has a limited number of sticks that players can borrow for the day. If you are interested in borrowing a stick, please email me at adams.

PACA Youth Basketball 🏀

For both girls and boys in 4th-6th grade, PACA has announced this year’s plans for the winter PACA Youth Sports basketball season.

Details are here with a signup link to register to attend a try-out session on either October 19th or 20th.

The season begins in November and runs through mid-February.

Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Christina Jauchius (P ’24, P’25), cmjauchius
