(MS) Middle School News 9/27

Hello MS Families,

We hope you are all enjoying the beautiful weather this long weekend. Mr. Arnold would like to extend his thanks to the middle school families for all of their flexibility and cooperation during the 50% hybrid model progression. Overall, the transition has gone extremely well. Creating and implementing this plan has taken an incredible amount of time and energy. If you would like to thank a teacher, please consider writing them a note or email – they are always appreciated but are even more meaningful during this challenging time. Mrs. Soderberg will be sending a letter regarding the future schedule in the next few days.

We have just a few notes to share:

  • School Pictures continue this week. Ordering information can be found here: Picture Orders

  • SchoolPass active this Tuesday! The school will still accept paper Health Questionnaires this week, but on Monday, October 5th, the school will only be using the app. Please see this communication for more information: SchoolPass App Letter

  • PM Carline: Middle Schoolers with siblings in the Lower School may join that carline pickup after school each day. Those students should leave the middle school and walk down the path by the bus circle (in front of the middle school) past the lower school playground to the front of the Lower School.

  • Middle School’s (Virtual) Back-to-School Night Wed, Oct 7: The evening will entail class meetings via Zoom, where you will get to meet the teachers and hear about each of your children’s courses. A detailed schedule, along with the links for the evening, will be sent out soon.

  • Charlie David Dinner is this Friday – Order meals by this Monday, 9/28
This year’s Charlie David Dinner, the cornerstone of financial support for ALL CA athletic programs, is virtual. This means the 800+ CA middle and upper school athletes need our help more than ever! There are three ways you can support the athletic program this year: purchase a sponsorship, purchase City Barbeque meals to pick up from school October 2nd, and/or bid on silent auction items.

For detailed Charlie David Dinner information and to register to purchase sponsorships/meals/silent auction items, visit: https://pacaevents.wedoauctions.com.

Please purchase sponsorships now and be sure to order your City Barbeque meals by September 28th. Silent auction opens Friday, October 2nd. The CA athletes, thank you for your support! Questions or silent auction donations can be sent to charliedavid.paca@gmail.com.

  • SEED’s 1st ZOOM meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 30, 9-10:30 am
How we see the world, decide which values to uphold, understand the unfamiliar, raise our kids – all these depend on our personal histories, inform who we are, and guide who we want to be. Parent SEED brings together CA parents and those caring for CA students who are interested in looking at issues in diversity, inclusion, and multi-culturalism (such as racism, class, poverty, gender identity, disability rights, etc.), through their own eyes and those of fellow parents. Through a series of 7 meetings, enhanced by selected readings, videos, and speakers, we discuss topics important and sometimes uncomfortable, in a confidential and safe setting. Until further notice, SEED meetings will take place via ZOOM. Subsequent meetings are planned for October, November, January, February, April, and May. We will meet from 9-10:30 am.

To participate or for further information, please contact Parent SEED leader Joyce Simson P’08, jrs@ix.netcom.com, (614) 554-9238.

  • PACA Virtual Parent Forum on Wednesday, October 7 at 8 am
Join PACA Co-Presidents, Tracie Klinefelter & Joyce Masek for the first PACA meeting of the year. There will be a special musical performance, so you don’t want to miss out! We will share Zoom login information closer to the meeting, so stay tuned. Hope to see you there!

Enjoy the rest of your long weekend!
