MS News 10/25

Hello MS Families!

We have just 4 items to share this week:

This week! Kids-4-Kids Food Drive continues until Wednesday, October 28!

Due to Covid protocols, Kids-4-Kids, our school-wide service learning project, is a week-long food drive this year, from Oct. 21-28. Unfortunately, there will be no clothing drive. For our “Food Drive 2.0” we are asking every student to bring in two non-perishable items. The food drive donations can be dropped off by the kids in LS classrooms and MS/US advisory rooms. Please see the flyer for more information and for suggested items. The donations will be used to put together a week’s worth of meals for 30 families in need.

Thank you, in advance, for your help in making this a success! For more information on how Kids-4-Kids would normally function, please visit the Community Service page on the PACA website.

Contributions Needed for Halloween Treat Bags

We are creating 260 individual treat bags for students to enjoy this Friday during Advisory. Students who are learning from home can pick up their bags in the MS office this Thursday afternoon. Any amount is appreciated, but $5-$10 would be very helpful. Donations can be made using the following:

Paypal: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8tFBTm8p71

Venmo: https://venmo.com/Christina-Jauchius

Any surplus funds will be used toward a similar event and/or for teacher appreciation later in the year.

Share Navratri/Diwali pictures with CAPSA!

CAPSA (Columbus Academy Parents of South Asia) would like to invite you to share photos and short videos showing how your family celebrates Navratri and Diwali! Examples could be dandiya dancing, doing garba (dressed in traditional attire) or rangoli, participating in the south Indian tradition of ‘Kolu’ or cooking of special foods. Please feel free to share videos or pics from past years of our CA kids engaging in these traditions, singing or dancing or participating in past community events. We would love to showcase Navratri and Diwali celebrations and the associated family traditions in our CA community!

Please limit to one video up to 30 seconds in length and up to 5 photos.

Please submit all information by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2020.
