(MS) Bi-Weekly Update 10.14.18

10.14.18

Hello Middle School Parents and Guardians. Happy (Finally) Fall!

It was great to see many of you at the Charlie David Dinner! To that end, congratulations to all the MS sports teams who competed and completed great seasons! Hoping you are getting ready to send your kids off for a few days of fun this week (and maybe some fun for yourselves too while they are gone?)

This issue will cover a few ways to support your kids, teachers and the community:

  • Field Trips
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences
  • Kids4Kids

Our first request is: don’t be shy! We are only at about 50% of participation for donations to our kids’ snacks and dinners for teachers and their families after this week’s big field trips. For those of you who have generously contributed, thank you! Those of you who haven’t yet – there is still time. Here are your ways for each class:

6th Grade: $5 to Jason Lichten through advisors, via PayPal (PayPal.me/jasonlichten) or VENMO @Rachel-Lichten. This covers teacher dinners (no snacks needed).

7th Grade: $10 to Natalie Swartz through advisors, via PayPal (paypal.me/ruthmilligan265) or via VENMO @ruth-milligan. This covers snacks and teacher dinners.

8th Grade: $5 to Anne Fornshell through advisory parents, or via PAYPAL (search for acforn@aol.com) for teacher dinners. Thank you for all the snacks – we have plenty for the week!

If your child is bringing their own snacks – no nuts or energy drinks are allowed.

Speaking of teachers and food…Conferences are up next!
October 25-26

During parent/teacher conferences on October 25 and 26th, parents provide snacks and treats to sustain our teachers through these long days. There are a few slots left for both days, including a few volunteers to help set-up and clean-up. Sign up genius link is here.
(*note we are not providing snacks on Oct 22nd but there are still conferences after school).

Kids4Kids
October 29-November 8

For those families who may be unfamiliar, Kids4Kids, which runs October 29 – November 8, is Academy’s school-wide community service initiative. Students, faculty, staff and parents contribute donations of food, clothing and/or time which benefits dozens of families in our community. Please take a look at the wish list for donations and sign up for volunteer slots here. If you want to run a neighborhood food drive during halloween, there’s a flyerto help as well. There’s a role for everyone and everyone can have a role!

And some general reminders….

PACA – Youth Winter Sports
And a last reminder – for 5/6th graders who may want to play basketball. Tryouts are next weekend (10/20-21) with times slots now announced. Make sure to pre-register with the respective coach for your child’s group so they know to expect you. All the details are here.

ICYMI:All the parent coffee notes are posted website, click on your grade: 6th grade, 7th grade, or 8th Grade.
