Spirit Week
Next week, middle school will have dress down days around the following themes:
Monday – Pajama
Tuesday – Western
Wednesday – Sand/Snow (outfits to play in the sand or snow – no swimsuits)
Thursday – Rivalry (think OSU v. Michigan, Hatfields v. McCoys, Jedi v. Sith, etc)
Friday – Advisory Match (advisories choose a theme wear it)
Guidelines are as follows:
No costumes or accessories should be a distraction to classwork or class environments
If you are not participating in the theme for that day, you must be in regular dress code
The “spirit” of the dress code still applies. No tight sweatpants, leggings, spaghetti straps, or shorts that are too short. Jeans in good repair and shorts are allowed.
If a student is unsure about a costume or outfit, they should ask their advisor before the day arrives. Tickets will be distributed for all students who participate. Those tickets become opportunities to win a prize in our random drawing.
Family Math Night for Grades 4-8
All Academy students and families in grades 4-8 are invited to join us for Family Math Night on Tuesday, March 14 in the dining hall from 6:00-8:00 p.m. This event, organized by Math Department Chair Katie Castle and Upper School Math Teacher/Curriculum Coordinator Emily Dennett, will feature interactive math games for the entire family to enjoy. Plus, it’s Pi Day so in recognition of 3/14 there will be an assortment of pie slices to eat!
ERB Testing
These important achievement assessments begin Monday, March 13 – Thursday, March 16… and in preparation, please see below for a few helpful tips:
Please refrain from scheduling non-emergency outside appointments for your child(ren) during school hours so your child(ren) can fully participate
Make sure your child(ren) is/are well-rested and have your child(ren) eat a nutritious breakfast each morning
It will be important for your child(ren) to be at school on-time.
Your child(ren) will need to have their iPads charged as they will be using them for the tests and please have your child(ren) bring a charger for their iPad
NOTE: Daylight savings begins Sunday, March 12. Don’t forget to Spring Forward….in time for Monday the 13th testing day.
Parent / Teacher Conferences
Spring conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, March 15 – Friday, March 17. Sign-ups opened Monday evening!
Half Day Bus Service
Due to Parent / Teacher Conferences, Thursday, March 16 is a half day (noon dismissal).
The following buses will provide service at noon on March 16:

April 6: Parent Academy Series with Lisa Damour, Ph.D.
All Columbus Academy parents/guardians are invited to hear from Lisa Damour, Ph.D., on Thursday, April 6 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. for the final Parent Academy Series event this school year. Dr. Damour is host of the Ask Lisa podcast and author of three New York Times best-selling books, most recently The Emotional Lives of Teenagers: Raising Connected, Capable, and Compassionate Adolescents. There will be a pre-event social with coffee, water and light snacks at 6:30 p.m. in the Susan Neal Theatre Lobby, followed by the program with Dr. Damour inside the Schoedinger Theatre at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Damour will also be available after the program to sign any of her books you may bring. All Day 4 CA returns April 20-21
Are you ready to show your CA spirit? Mark your calendars for All Day 4 CA – when Vikings everywhere come together to celebrate and support our school. This year’s 25-hour online giving event will kick off on April 20th at 10:00 a.m. with an “All In” head-to-toe spiritwear day and matching funds to encourage everyone to join in! Proceeds benefit the 2022-23 Annual Fund, which allows the school to invest in important faculty and student programs that enrich every student’s Academy experience. (Check out last year’s video to see examples of our gifts at work!)
FAMILY HOLI FESTIVAL
