UPDATE-Lower School Email August 18 2019


Hello Lower School Families,

As we send out our first lower school e-mail, we would like to introduce ourselves as the 2019-2020 Lower School Lead Parents. Jen Neviaser and I, Candice Singleton, will be heading the Lower School Leadership Team (LSLT) this year. Periodically you will receive an e-mail from us to keep you informed about important lower school events and dates to remember. Please see below to save the date for upcoming events and things to remember.

Monday, August 19, 4:00-6:00pm
Bring the family out to this casual event. Your children will have the opportunity to meet their teacher, play with some old friends, and meet some new ones, all while eating ice cream! Teachers will be in their classrooms from 4:00-5:00pm so students can get a “sneak peak” to their new classrooms. From 4:30-6:00pm ice cream will be served.

The Viking Corner will be set up for sales during the Ice Cream Social, so be sure to drop by and pick up any uniform or spirit wear needs. There will be a sale on all A+ uniform stock, with items up to 60% off! The Viking Corner will also feature many new spirit wear items from League 91 and Legacy. PACA would also like to ask you to consider volunteering at the Viking Corner during the school year, so email VikingCorner@icloud.com to be added to the sign up list.

Tuesday, August 20
Classes begin at 8:05a.m. and end at 3:20p.m. Please plan on arriving early to allow your little Viking(s) plenty of time to get settled into their new classroom without rushing. If you plan on walking your child(ren) into the school, please park in a parking space and not in the carpool line or fire lanes. Volunteers will be positioned throughout the Lower School to help students find their way. The first few weeks of carpool are slow so please be patient. There is definitely a method to the madness and it does get better!

Columbus Academy CASE (Children’s After School Experience) is an after-care program that allows for pickup anytime before 6:00p.m. Registration will be sent home via email and can be found on the CA website.

After School Activities (ASA) are after-care options in addition to our CASE program for children in grades Pre-K-6. A print copy of the newly formatted brochure will come home in backpacks the first week of school and are available now through the CA website. If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact the Special Programs office at programs@columbusacademy.org or 614-509-2267.

Save the date for the 37th annual Charlie David Dinner taking place in the dining hall on Friday, September 20th from 5:00p-7:30p prior to the varsity home football game. You’ll soon receive additional details in the mail and via email, including how to purchase sponsorships and/or tickets to the dinner. This is CA’s only athletic program fundraiser of the year and it’s a family-friendly event for all ages. We look forward to seeing you there in your Viking attire!
