Hello Senior Parents,

It’s here! THE YEAR 2020 HAS ARRIVED! Hard to believe, but we have turned the corner and are headed for the home stretch of Senior year! Fasten your seatbelts, it’s gonna be a wild (but, hopefully, not bumpy) ride!

We have a LOT of news in this email, so please take a minute to read it all!

SENIOR LOCK-IN – Saturday night, January 18
Every year, the faculty delights in locking the Seniors in the school overnight and throwing an all night party! At least, we think that’s what they do. The Senior Lock-In is a super secret and awesomely fun event (and one of many Senior traditions happening over the next 5 months). It is sponsored by the faculty. We don’t know what they do all night, because it has to remain a surprise, but rest assured, your Senior is not going to get very much sleep! Head of Upper School, Cory Izokaitas, will be sending out more information, but what we do know is Cory is appreciative of any gift/prizes that Senior families wish to donate for the Senior’s morning gift auction. She is looking for things that are appropriate for college, such as body pillows, a set of twin sheets, shower caddies w/ a few supplies, study pillows (the ones that lean against the wall with the little arms on them), or gift cards for various restaurants or movie theaters, just to name a few. Cory is VERY GRATEFUL for anything she gets. If you’d like to donate some prizes, then please drop them off at the US office any day next week. THANK YOU!

Additionally, we need 2 or 3 more parents to volunteer for “Late Night Food Pick-Up.” Cory will order and pay for all the food, but she needs a few parents to pick up the food, bring it to CA and help set up the “midnight buffet” in one of the Upper School classrooms. We have a few volunteers already, but we need a few more. If you are a late night person who can help from about 10:30pm to 12:30am next Saturday, January 18, please respond to this email and let us know you’d like to volunteer. We’ll be in touch with more details after that.

SENIOR VIDEO – Your Senior’s photos are needed!
Another Senior tradition! At the Seniors Honors Assembly (Friday, May 22nd, we’ll all be invited) a video will play back that honors our Seniors, their Senior year and their time spent at CA. A section of this video includes your child’s baby picture (who is that cute baby?!) followed by their Senior picture (oh my, she grew up to be a gorgeous young lady!). And we need YOU, to select two photos of your Senior, one when they were a baby or very young, and another taken their Senior year, and upload them to a special Dropbox file where a video production company will retrieve them and drop them into the Senior video. Here are instructions for uploading your 2 photos:

To Upload Your Photos:
Go to this link: https://www.dropbox.com/request/LtySrawa2n6FLB5kVUNq
1. Either a) Drag and Drop your files on to the page and it will capture them; you can drag and drop more than one file
OR b) Click “Choose Files” and locate them on your computer to upload.
** Make sure to upload a senior AND a baby picture. To add a second photo, Click “+Add more files”
2. It will then prompt you to put in a First and Last Name: PLEASE PUT THE FIRST AND LAST NAME OF YOUR STUDENT. Check spelling.
3. Also put in an email for your upload confirmation to go to (no other emails will get sent to you from Dropbox).
4. Hit “Upload”
5. Once uploaded, the screen will say “Thanks! You’re all done.” You are finished! It will ask you for a password to create a Dropbox account, you do NOT have to do this.

Don’t get mad at your computer! If uploading these 2 photos causes you stress, no worries, just email them to us and we’ll do it for you.

Deadline to upload photos: January 31, 2020

SENIOR SURPRISE PARTY
Plans are underway for ANOTHER Senior tradition – the Senior Surprise party. This party is planned and hosted completely by Senior parents. We have a great committee hard at work on this event. The entire day is a BIG surprise for our Senior class and it will be their last big, bonding moment before their graduation ceremony. We’ll whisk the entire class away right after graduation rehearsal on Friday, May 29th and not bring them back to campus until about 10pm. Where will they go? What will they do?! We’ll never put it in print, because every second of the day is a surprise. We just wanted you to know, it’s gonna be GREAT!

SENIOR EXPENSES
We wanted to give you an idea of what your pocketbook can expect in the coming months too. As one previous Senior parent said to us last fall, “Welcome to Senior year… prepare to open your wallet!” There is a little truth to that. Just so you are prepared, we wanted to list some things we can think of that will have a cost associated with them between now and graduation:

  • Senior Trip to Nashville – $650
  • Senior Surprise Party – $125 (approx.)
  • Senior Lock-In – IS FREE!!! (but please donate gift(s) if you can!)
  • Dress or suit for Graduation (dress code rules will be coming in our next email)
  • Graduation parties (your discretion)
  • Graduation gifts (your discretion)

As always, we want all of the Seniors to participate in every single Senior Tradition, if you need assistance, please contact Cory Izokaitis in the US office.
