Class of 2020 – end of May

And just like that…. everything changed.

Hi Parents of the Class of 2020,

Well, tomorrow should have been graduation day for our Seniors. It’s sad to think about all the things that should’ve and could’ve been, but we applaud everyone who has tried to make the best out of this unprecedented pandemic. Someone on TV said, “You know, there is no playbook for this. We are writing the playbook as we try to chart a course through these pandemic waters.” The school has tried very hard to come up with clever and creative ways to engage and honor our Seniors, through Zoom Senior Nights for the spring sports teams to the awesome Final Bell fun, they have done a great job while they simultaneously write their playbook.

We hope that the postponement of graduation until July 25th, will allow us to have some kind of real graduation ceremony. For now, we wait to see what the school feels they can do safely. We are sure they will come up with a good plan!

One of the great traditions of Senior year is the watching of the Senior Video. In a normal world, the whole class would have watched it together during the Honors Assembly a week ago. Although it can’t be watched together this year, the video was still produced and it looks and feels very much like previous years, except it stars our Seniors! Your Senior should look for an email (in their CA email) from Miles Razek this Monday morning with a link to watch the Senior video. Parents will receive a link from the school (via Bob Lee) sometime Monday so that they can view it too. We are throwing “family watch parties” at our homes!

Since we haven’t had any news to share, we haven’t sent any emails, so no one has been able to view changes to the grad party schedule (always listed at the bottom of our emails). A big thank you to Jennie Cammeyer who made a Google Calendar for us so that we can keep the party schedule updated in real time. If you want to see if a date or time is open, just check the link below for the most up-to-date schedule. We’ll continue to keep the one at the bottom of our emails updated, but if you don’t hear from us for a week or two, it might not be very accurate, because we get updates almost daily.

Here is the link to the Grad Party Google Calendar:

If you have updates, just email us (or reply to this email) and we will update the Google calendar ASAP.

We are NOT giving up on this!!! We are waiting to hear what the graduation plans are and if there will or will not be a graduation rehearsal. If there is a rehearsal, we will plan something for our Seniors to do together (safely) immediately following rehearsal. If no rehearsal is needed, then we will plan something for that Thursday (7/23) or Friday (7/24) before graduation. As long as we can do something safely, we will do something!!! We are not giving up on this yet!

We hope it is safe enough to see all of you at parties and a graduation ceremony, until then, stay safe, keep washing your hands and let us know if you need any toilet paper – our garages are stuffed with the stuff!
